Alanco StarTrak Announces ReeferTrak Partnership With SkyBitz

Alanco Technologies has announced that its StarTrak subsidiary has forged a partnership with SkyBitz to deliver a StarTrak ReeferTrak cold chain wireless management platform that utilizes the SkyBitz satellite communications network. SkyBitz has placed an initial order for 500 ReeferTrak devices for their fleet customers, while both companies will offer this new service to their respective customer bases.

SkyBitz's Reefer Control Service exclusively utilizes StarTrak's information technology infrastructure, which is delivered to SkyBitz customers as data "powered by StarTrak."

The new StarTrak/SkyBitz offering permits seamless integration of dry van, bulk and refrigerated truck/trailer monitoring systems over a broad-coverage, low power satellite system, and complements StarTrak's other satellite and cellular connected ReeferTrak products.

The ReeferTrak system supports every reefer model offered by both major reefer OEMs. In common with all ReeferTrak data services, the new partnership solution provides for real-time reefer status, GPS position, operating state, temperatures, fuel levels, alarm status, engine hours and supports two-way commands to change temperature set points and clear alarms within minutes.

This new, more affordable satellite service supplements StarTrak's existing cellular-based ReeferTrak service allowing freight customers, who often have unique telematics needs, to select either mode of communication to optimize their refrigerated fleet operation. This flexibility allows customers to mix and match communications platforms to achieve the optimal tradeoff between broad coverage from the satellite system and the higher data rates available from StarTrak's cellular solution.

A U.S. Air Force modernized Global Positioning System Block IIR (GPS IIR-M) satellite, built by Lockheed Martin, was successfully launched today from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station aboard a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Delta II launch vehicle.
