Raven Provides Portable DGPS To Crescent Pilots

Raven Industries announces their association with New Orleans Crescent River Port Pilot's Association as the group's provider of portable DGPS pilot systems.

Raven is the market leader in portable ship pilot systems and provides GPS and navigation systems for both maritime and agricultural uses to help protect the environment and maximize operational efficiency.

When ships come to port from the open sea, pilots from the local association board vessels, direct its navigation and dock the vessel at its berth. After loading and/or unloading, local pilots navigate ships back to open seas, where ship captains resume full control.

Portable pilot systems provide ship pilots with a familiar set of navigation charts and electronics to aid in navigation. Raven retains majority market share for portable pilot systems in the United States.

Approximately 107 pilots belong to the Crescent River Pilot's Association, and their services are essential to the local maritime economy and state of Louisiana. Crescent pilots work closely with the U.S. Coast Guard and shipping agencies to safely navigate over 5,300 vessels millions of miles per year to protect the citizens and environment of the state.
