Quadsat Partners with GovSat to Enhance Antenna Testing

Quadsat has announced a collaboration with leading satellite operators to streamline the antenna registration process. As part of this initiative, Quadsat has recently partnered with GovSat, allowing all antennas within the GovSat network to be tested using Quadsat's advanced system. This partnership also enables GovSat to offer comprehensive antenna measurement and verification services to its customers.

Quadsat's solution employs a UAV equipped with a customized RF payload to perform accurate and flexible antenna validation. The system is capable of testing various user terminals, including fixed, comms-on-the-move (COTM), phased array, and earth stations within the network. Quadsat's bespoke software ensures standardized reporting across a wide array of measurements, facilitating on-site testing within the far-field operational environment of the antennas, leading to a thorough and precise assessment.

Satellite operators are frequently asked by manufacturers to assist with antenna verification, testing, and measurements. However, many operators face challenges such as limited satellite capacity, insufficient manpower, and the lack of calibrated tools necessary for these tasks. Additionally, using live satellite capacity for testing can introduce interference. By partnering with operators like GovSat, Quadsat simplifies the antenna registration process, mitigates the risk of interference, and enhances the availability of antenna measurement and verification services.

Joakim Espeland, CEO of Quadsat, stated: "For satellite operators, it is increasingly vital to improve network quality and maximise reliability across their networks. At the same time, operators are working to avoid potential issues that can impact not only their own customers, but also those of neighbouring satellites. We are proud to be part of enabling that. Working with GovSat, we can ensure it can achieve its mission, supporting critical communications."
