New Antenna Technology Targets Drone Swarm Neutralization

Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc. ("FRACTAL") has introduced a compact and advanced antenna designed to disrupt enemy drone formations. Known as the FeathR antenna, this proprietary and patent-pending technology integrates a lightweight design, broad frequency coverage, and low radar signature, marking a significant advancement in counter-drone operations.

Conventional methods to disable drone swarms often rely on high-powered microwave attacks. While these are effective under optimal conditions, they depend on large-scale support from vehicles or ships and require unobstructed lines of sight over distances exceeding hundreds of yards. Such limitations make it difficult to engage swarms operating close to the ground, within complex terrain, or beneath sea mist layers that obscure visibility.

The FeathR antenna circumvents these constraints by enabling drone-mounted jamming systems to infiltrate hostile swarms and disrupt them from within. Despite its small form factor, the antenna's wideband performance supports various frequencies, ensuring adaptability against swarms using diverse communication channels.

As inventor Nathan Cohen remarked: "The FeathR antenna puts the wolf in the middle of the hen house."

This is the inaugural drone initiative from FRACTAL's innovation division, Owl Works, and exemplifies the company's rapid development capability. Cohen further commented: "With thirty years of enterprise experience, the right team, and some AI assistance, it's a whole new ballgame in near real-time solutions, a unique feature of FRACTAL that is not surpassed by the large primes. Cost-effective and fast are now the new rules in electromagnetics."

Engineered for stealth and capable of supporting a broad spectrum of signal types, the FeathR antenna excels at swarm jamming while avoiding self-interference. Additionally, it facilitates uplink and downlink communications with terrestrial, aerial, and space-based command platforms, enabling seamless operation in complex environments.

This antenna system is slated for defense-only applications and will be distributed as a developer's kit to select partners.
