NATO chief 'looking forward' to working with Germany's Merz

NATO chief Mark Rutte congratulated Germany's conservative election winner Friedrich Merz on Sunday, saying he was looking forward to working with him "in this crucial moment for our shared security.

"It's vital that Europe step up on defence spending and your leadership will be key," he added in a post on X.
