Medizone International has received patent protection by the European Union for its AsepticSure product, which provides governmental countermeasures for a biological attack, the company announced Monday.

The EU patent grant expands on previously awarded bio-terrorism patent protection awards in the United States and Canada, the company said.

The EU patent will now cover Medizone in the U.K., Germany and France.

AsepticSure has demonstrated a greater than 6-log kill against all bacterial and viral pathogens it has been tested against, Medizone said.

The tech has defeated every infective pathogen, viral or bacterial, that it has been tested against, according to Medizone.

"Eliminating all infective pathogens from a disinfected space eliminates the infective reservoir, thus rendering the treated space harmless and safe," the company said.

AsepticSure is also a portable hospital sterilization system, where a unit is placed in the center of the room to be cleaned.

After vents and doors are sealed with tape, the system is activated via remote wireless interface, the company said.

The room is filed with a patented, ozone-based gas formula. When the charge period is done, the system restores the atmosphere, leaving a sterile room.
