Makakilo Baptist Church Adopts Solar Power
by Staff Writers
Scottsdale AZ (SPX) Jun 28, 2012

Makakilo Baptist Church.

Hawaiian Energy Systems and Centrosolar America have announced the completion of a 51kw solar power system at the Makakilo Baptist Church in Kapolei, HI. The rooftop installation will offset 90% of the Church's electrical energy needs and provide electricity for the Church itself and the adjacent office and pre-school buildings.

"Nonprofits in Hawaii have very attractive financial incentives for developing renewable energy resources," says Holli Tamas President of Granite Bay Energy and Hawaiian Energy Systems.

"Hawaii's energy costs are the highest in the nation, and now Makakilo Baptist Church will reduce their operating costs by saving on their monthly utility bills. Through financing arranged by Centrosolar America, there was no upfront cost to the Church for the installation, and in ten years they will own their system outright."

The system was designed and installed by Hawaiian Energy Systems, Inc. and includes 216 Centrosolar 235 watt C-Series. "The C-Series panel is the ideal fit for installations in Hawaii," said Centrosolar America's Sales Director, Chris Wood.

"It was selected because of its suitability for use in coastal applications. It is designed to withstand the kinds of adverse weather and environmental conditions found on the Islands - like high winds and the corrosive effects of salt spray."
