Participants myst have completed SEI's Online PV Design course or the hands-on PV Design and Installation workshop or have permission of the instructor.

This course heavily emphasizes the United States National Electrical Code as it pertains to PV systems, and is especially useful for people who currently work in, or plan to be employed in the PV industry. This course also specifically provides information that is helpful in preparation for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Installer Certification exam.

Our goals for you in this course are to:

- Review designing Stand-Alone PV systems.

- Understand NEC requirements specifically pertaining to Stand-Alone PV systems.

- Learn how to evaluate PV system schematics.

- Learn how to design PV/Wind and PV/Generator Hybrid systems.

- Take an in-depth look at batteries and charge controllers.

- Learn about battery options, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

- Understand charging algorithms, MPPT and voltage step down features for charge controllers.

- Review and expand on designing Grid-Tied PV Systems.

- Understand NEC requirements specifically pertaining to Grid-Tied PV systems.

- Learn in depth wire sizing method for full NEC compliance.

- Learn about properly grounded PV systems and other safety/NEC considerations.

- Take an in depth look at trackers, site analysis and additional mounting considerations.
