L3 tapped by Army for enhanced night vision goggles
by James Laporta
Washington DC (UPI) May 17, 2018

L3 Technologies has been awarded a contract for enhanced night vision goggles.

The contract, from the U.S. Army Contracting Command, was announced Wednesday by the Defense Department and enables L3 Technologies to provide "enhanced night vision goggle binocular," technology.

The contract is valued at more than $391.7 million under the terms of a hybrid cost and firm-fixed-price contract. L3's binocular night vision device is a third generation dual-tube goggle that's compact, rugged and lightweight for greater situational awareness.

The dual-tube goggles provides an individual with a full view of what's in front of them, unlike other night vision goggles that may only be single-tube, which only covers only one eye.

Work on the contract and funding will be determined with each request order, the Pentagon said.

The period of performance for L3 Technologies will conclude in May 2021.
