Kelly Space Launches Eco-Friendly Wireless Lighting Control Technology

The WiseLight system automates outdoor lighting system applications such as those used in parking lots.

Kelly Space and Technology, Inc. launched an eco-friendly wireless lighting control technology known as WiseLight. WiseLight automatically enables commercial and government municipal users to save energy and costs. This green energy saving system automates scheduling, monitoring and control of outdoor lighting applications such as recreational fields, parking lots, billboards and other venues.

The WiseLight system eliminates timer and photosensor inefficiencies and malfunctions and allows direct feedback to identify failed components, such as bulbs and fixtures, and initiates real-time customer-defined notifications for prompt repair.

The WiseLight hardware is installed between a lighting fixture and its power supply and operates lights only when needed or desired. The centralized command and control feature of the system enables users to monitor energy usage and control a single lamp or any combination of lamps via machine-to-machine wireless communications from a secure internet web site.

In announcing the new product, Michael J. Gallo, CEO of Kelly Space and Technology said: "Independent field results prove that our patent-pending wireless lighting control system allows customers to save up to fifty (50%) percent in energy costs, while aiding organizations to achieve carbon-neutrality goals by reducing energy demand and generation. WiseLight is a straightforward and responsible solution for management that creates a win-win for both the environment and the bottom-line."

He continued: "The proprietary communications architecture behind the WiseLight technology is the core innovation. Because of its universal applicability to control and monitor virtually any sensor system, Kelly Space is applying this technology to several of our product lines, including ballistic protection, laser and detection system applications."

The primary means by which WiseLight reduces energy consumption and costs are:

- Run-Time Savings: In most outdoor lighting configurations, there are multiple lamps per unit (pole). At an appropriate time, WiseLight allows individual lamps to be toggled off with minimal impact on the luminosity of an area, hence, reducing energy consumption and cost directly proportional to the rating of the lamp.

- Efficiency Savings: Current photosensors and timers have a tendency to power lights too early and stay on too long as well as triggering lights to burn mistakenly during overcast weather conditions resulting in significant wasted energy consumption. The WiseLight system, on the other hand, automatically adjusts for sunrise and sunset time with daylight savings time changes based on the zip code of the asset.

- Replacement and Labor Savings: When lamp-life is extended, replacement costs consisting of the lamp as well as the associated labor and equipment are deferred and reduced.
