HydroGNSS satellites prepared for Vandenberg launch

London, UK (SPX) Nov 05, 2025

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) has completed the integration of both HydroGNSS satellites onto the launch plate in preparation for deployment from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The SSTL launch team, working on-site in the United States, ensured both spacecraft met all mechanical and electrical requirements during a detailed integration campaign completed in October.

This final phase concludes months of preparation and testing. The SSTL team performed a comprehensive assessment to verify the readiness of each satellite for flight, marking a significant milestone for the HydroGNSS mission.

HydroGNSS is part of the European Space Agency's Scout Programme and is intended to demonstrate how small satellites can be used to collect valuable data for the study of Earth's climate. SSTL managed the full process, from initial design through assembly and testing, for both spacecraft.

The HydroGNSS satellites will gather new climate measurements designed to improve scientific understanding of global climate processes. With the build and integration phases completed, the SSTL team will now await the upcoming launch, scheduled for later this month.
