American DG Energy has announced that it has reached an agreement to provide an On-Site Utility solution to Lutheran Crossings Enhanced Living in Moorestown, New Jersey. Under the terms of the agreement, Lutheran Crossings will receive a portion of its energy from a Tecogen 75 kW combined heat and power system (CHP).

Known throughout the industry for their reliability and efficiency, Tecogen is the leading manufacturer of clean burning, natural gas-driven cogeneration systems in the United States with over 35 million hours of proven field experience.

The system will be owned and operated by American DG Energy and the agreement will provide American DG Energy with a revenue value of approximately $1,300,000 over the 15 year contract.

American DG Energy, partnering with CommunityWorks of Atlanta, Georgia, will produce heat, domestic hot water and electricity. The CHP system will offset 377 tons of carbon annually.

This annual carbon savings is equal to removing 72 vehicles from the roadways each year. Lutheran Crossings will pay only for the energy used by the facilities and avoid all capital, installation and operating costs of the system.

"When Lutheran Crossings Enhanced Living in Moorestown, New Jersey reached out to us for an innovative solution to help reduce energy spend and extend the life of their existing boiler plant, we jumped at the opportunity to help," said Regional Director of Operations for Morrison's CommunityWorks, Tim Ross.

"The request proved timely, as we were already in the process of assessing Lutheran Crossings' potential savings with our partners at American DG Energy. Once the data was evaluated, we were able to provide substantial savings, carbon footprint reduction, no investment and capital savings."

"The cogeneration opportunity that Morrison's CommunityWorks provided to Lutheran Crossings allowed the community to jump decades ahead of their competitors in terms of energy use and savings," said National Project Manager for Morrison's CommunityWorks, Ken Waddington.

"Lutheran Crossing's cogeneration system reflects the new standard to which all other senior living communities should strive to achieve."

Located minutes from New York City, Lutheran Crossings provides assisted living and sub-acute rehabilitation, in addition to the long-term care that has become so well-known. The organization maintains an ongoing commitment to fulfilling the physical, social, and emotional needs of residents, as well as serving the evolving needs of its aging population.
