German opposition leader confirms commitment to sending missiles to Ukraine

Germany's conservative opposition leader Friedrich Merz, who is tipped to replace Chancellor Olaf Scholz in February elections, repeated his commitment to sending German-made Taurus missiles to Ukraine on a visit to the country Monday.

"President Zelensky knows our position on Taurus missiles... As it stands today, at the beginning of December 2024, it remains the same," Merz said at a press conference with the Ukrainian leader in Kyiv.
