GTX Receives Order For gpVector Platform Devices

GTX announced the confirmation of its initial order from licensee MyAthlete, for its gpVector module, embedded in the MyAthlete device. Production will begin immediately and the final units of the 1,000 piece order are expected to ship during the latter half of the second quarter of 2008 with additional follow-on orders expected in late 2008 and 2009.

As a result of extensive Beta testing done in a cooperative arrangement between the companies, the MyAthlete devices were able to be distributed for use by the general public at last month's Boston Marathon. The overwhelming response to the product and its ability to broadcast location aware signals to spectators viewing racers in real time on web-enabled mobile devices, such as laptop PCs, PDAs and cell phones, has led to an accelerated demand for the technology.

"Seeing the reaction of the spectators at the race who were tracking their children, spouses, or friends in real time...and giving them the chance to be in position along the course when their favorite runner was passing, so they could cheer them on...was validation of the concept. The demand for the product after the race nailed it for us...we need more and we need them now," said John Brennan, the founder and President of MyAthlete LLC.

Patrick Bertagna added, "The My Athlete contract is one example of the multiple applications our technology can be applied to. We are currently exploring relationships with a number of different companies in various industries to utilize our PLS platform."

The MyAthlete tracking device is worn on the racer's belt and transmits his or her location as gathered by the miniaturized GPS technology onboard via the AT and T wireless carrier network every minute they are on the course.

Once the location data is received by the GTX Corp servers and processing software, it is transformed into a breadcrumb trail that is displayed on the MyAthlete tracking web portal powered by GTX Corp using a Google Maps format. It can be viewed from any web browser such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla or Firefox.

"We've worked very closely with John and his team over the past year," commented Patrick Bertagna, CEO and President of GTX Corp, "and to see this become a reality is extremely gratifying for all of us. Let the races begin!"
