GTX Announces Release Of New 2-Way GPS Module

GTX has announced the confirmation of receipt of its latest purchase order from licensee My Athlete, for the newest generation of the gpVector device and platform. The final design has been approved and the new order is expected to ship during the first half of the first quarter of 2009 with additional follow-on purchase orders expected in early 2009 for shipment in the second quarter of the year.

Since this year's Boston Marathon, My Athlete has been delivering the gpVector tracking platform to athletes participating in the major competitions of the summer season, such as the Ironman events in Lake Placid, NY, Louisville, KY and Madison, WI, culminating in the premiere event of the year, the Kona Ironman in Hawaii next month.

The schedule for the remainder of the year includes weekly events being held in various cities around the country.

The overwhelming response to the product and its ability to broadcast location aware signals to spectators viewing racers in real time on web-enabled mobile devices, such as laptop PCs, PDAs and cell phones, has led to an accelerated demand for the next generation 2 Way GPS technology.

GTX and My Athlete, having listened to the voice of the athlete, combined their resources to create a new MyAthlete device platform which provides dramatic improvements in ergonomics, water resistance, and power management, delivering a best in class next generation product for the competitive athletic marketplace.

Now sporting LED indicators denoting GPS connectivity status, power on/off and battery charge levels, as well as having molded housing gaskets which will ensure water tightness, the Hermes 1.5 unit will produce results equaled by no other real time GPS tracker in the industry.

The MyAthlete tracking device is worn on the racer's belt and transmits his or her location as gathered by the miniaturized GPS technology onboard via wireless carrier networks every minute they are on the course.

Once the location data is received by the GTX Corp location data servers and proprietary processing software, it is transformed into a breadcrumb trail that is displayed on the MyAthlete tracking web portal, also powered by GTX Corp, and using a Google Maps format. It can be viewed from any web browser running Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla Firefox on PCs, laptops or mobile devices such as the Apple iPhone.

Trimble has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire TopoSys GmbH of Biberach an der Riss, Germany in an all-cash transaction. TopoSys is a leading provider of aerial data collection systems comprised of LiDAR and metric cameras.
