Framatome has signed a new contract to maintain and modernize the electrical systems of the two VVER-1000 reactors at Bulgaria's Kozloduy nuclear power plant. The work will be carried out by Framatome EOOD, the company's Bulgarian subsidiary.

Framatome previously renovated the plant's no break power supply systems during a modernization program in the 2000s. Under the new agreement, these systems will again be upgraded with components meeting the latest international performance standards, further enhancing reactor safety.

"We are proud to contribute to the lifetime extension of the Kozloduy power plant. The renewal of this multi-year service contract reaffirms the solid partnership between Framatome and Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, built over two decades," stated Guirec Maugat, Senior Executive Vice President of Framatome's Installed Base Business Unit.

The contract supports Bulgaria's efforts to extend the operational life of Kozloduy while safeguarding security of supply and ensuring reliable, low-carbon electricity generation.

In recent years, Framatome has reinforced its presence in Bulgaria by establishing Framatome EOOD in 2021 and signing a memorandum of understanding with Sofia Technical University in 2024 to foster cooperation in nuclear education and training.

Kozloduy remains Bulgaria's sole nuclear power station and its leading electricity producer, generating more than one-third of the nation's total annual power.
