Dow Jones Alternative Energy Innovations Conference

At the conference, leading venture capitalists, industry analysts, corporate executives and other experts will also share their views on which technologies are best positioned to have a global impact.

As venture funding in the alternative energy sector continues to heat up, with investments in the first half of 2008 totaling $1.42 billion according to Dow Jones VentureSource, the Dow Jones Alternative Energy Innovations conference offers access to 60 innovative early-stage start-ups, a clear view of the current market and expert insights into the sector's future on October 21 and 22 at the Sofitel in Redwood City, Calif.

A deal-flow and networking event, Alternative Energy Innovations will highlight 60 early-stage start-ups in batteries, biofuels, energy management, fuel cells, lighting, wind and water. The CEO of each start-up will present their company's business plan and technology to potential investors, acquirers and business partners.

All presenters have been vetted by the editors of Dow Jones who sought out start-ups with breakthrough technologies and solid business plans.

At the conference, leading venture capitalists, industry analysts, corporate executives and other experts will also share their views on which technologies are best positioned to have a global impact + including in-depth discussions on the future of solar power and biofuels, what it takes to turn green companies profitable, how clean energy initiatives around the world are impacting U.S. companies and what major corporations are doing to tackle their energy issues.

Confirmed to participate in keynote interviews during the two-day conference:

+ Kaj den Daas, chairman, Philips Lighting will shed light on the future of energy efficiency for homes and businesses as well as current adoption rates and market trends.

+ Jim Davis, president, Chevron Energy Solutions will discuss the oil giant's efforts to drive down energy usage and cost for its customers.

+ Peter Marks, chairman, president and CEO, Robert Bosch will share what one of the world's largest automotive parts suppliers is doing to power alternative vehicles more efficiently and how the company is working with start-ups to do this.

+ Elon Musk, chairman and chief product architect of electric car start-up Tesla Motors, chairman of SolarCity and CEO and CTO of SpaceX will give his views on the future of green transportation.

+ Michael Peevey, president, California Public Utilities Commission will talk about the state's alternative energy efforts, his new emissions reduction effort and how start-ups can get involved with local governments.

An added bonus for this year's conference attendees is access to The Wall Street Journal's Technology Innovations awards ceremony and dinner at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21 at the Sofitel.
