Chinese logging company to invest 8.3 million euros in Congo

A Chinese logging company will invest 8.3 million euros (12.2 million dollars) in the the Democratic Republic of Congo by 2010, a government statement said Wednesday.

The Chinese company Yuan Dong (SEFYD) would operate in Souanke in the northern Sangha region, according to the statement. The investment was expected to create over 150 jobs.

Wood is DR Congo's second largest natural resource after oil.
