Army awards AM General $11.8M for 60 Humvees

Washington (UPI) Feb 26, 2018

AM General was awarded a contract by the U.S. Army to procure 60 M1167 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles or HMMWV.

The deal, announced Friday by the Department of Defense, is valued at more than $11.8 million under a modified contract.

The HMMWV, or what is commonly known as the Humvee, is a four-wheel drive military light truck that has been regularly produced since 1984.

Work will occur in Mishawaka, Ind., and is expected to be complete by December 2018.

The total amount of the contract will be obligated to AM General from Army fiscal 2017 other procurement funds.

Russia has tested over 200 new types of arms in Syria during its campaign in support of President Bashar al-Assad, a senior lawmaker said Thursday, as Moscow was accused of taking part in air strikes against rebel-held Eastern Ghouta.
