Space Station's Big Bay Window Installed
Paris, France (ESA) Feb 16, 2010
The biggest window ever launched to space has been installed in its final position on the Earth-facing port of Node-3. The latches and 16 electrically driven bolts were engaged today at 07:31 CET (06:31 GMT). Opening of the window shutters is foreseen for Wednesday. China launches orbiter for navigation system: state media
Beijing (AFP) Jan 17, 2010
China launched an orbiter into space early Sunday, the latest stage in the development of its own satellite navigation system, state media said. The orbiter, launched at about 00:12 am (1612 GMT Saturday) was the third orbiter that China has launched for its Beidou Navigation System, Xinhua news agency said. Opportunity is exploring around the rim of the very young crater "Concepcion." On Sol 2145 (Feb. 4, 2010), the rover made a 10-meter (33-foot) approach to a rock target called "Chocolate Hills." This rock target is of interest because it exhibits a dark rind or crust that may be impact melt.
