Galactic GPS Possible With Pulsars And Gravity WavesRohnert Park CA (SPX) Jan 06, 2010 Radio astronomers have uncovered 17 millisecond pulsars in our galaxy by studying unknown high-energy sources detected by NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. Tiruchi, India (PTI) Jan 05, 2010The launch of India's next moon mission, Chandrayaan-II, will be in the first quarter of 2013 as per schedule, its project head said here on Sunday. The project is shaping up as per schedule, Mylswamy Annadurai, project director, Chandrayaan-I and II of the Indian Space Research Organization, told reporters. Frankfurt (AFP) Jan 4, 2010Many Germans have been hit by a computer bug linked to the year 2010 that has rendered their credit cards useless, the ZKA banking commission said on Monday. Cards issued by "many credit institutions" have run up against "a software error during the passage to the year 2010" that does not however cause security problems, the commission said in a statement. Clients at two of the biggest German retail banks, Postbank and Commerzbank, have been affected in particular but ZKA could not say how many people in all were faced with problems. ... more

However, the upcoming Martian winter could end the roving career of the beloved, scrappy robot. Spirit successfully landed on the Red Planet at 8:35 p.m. PST on Jan. 3, 2004, and its twin Opportunity arrived at 9:05 p.m. Jan. 24, 2004. The rovers began missions intended to last for three months but which have lasted six Earth years, or 3.2 Mars years.
