NASA officials report Goddard 'incident'

U.S. space agency officials said an air conditioning system malfunctioned Tuesday at the Goddard Space Flight Center, producing a condensation cloud.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration issued a statement saying the incident at the Greenbelt, Md., facility did not involve a chemical spill or release of any hazardous material.

The 4:30 p.m. EDT incident occurred in facility's electro-plating laboratory where technicians put specialized coatings on metals for spaceflight thermal control, officials said. Employees were evacuated from the building and two people initially reported as missing were located unharmed.

Following inspection of the area, an all-clear was given shortly before 8 p.m.
