NASA Outlines Big Plans For Humanoid Robot

Astronauts on board the International Space Station will soon have a new roommate--and it's not human. It's a humanoid. In Sept. 2010, space shuttle Discovery will deliver Robonaut 2--"R2" for short--to the ISS, where it will become the first humanoid robot to travel and work in space. Developed jointly by NASA and General Motors, R2 looks a bit like C-3PO of Star Wars fame but lacks the chatty robot's gift of gab. Russia To Send Freighter With Books And Candy To ISS
Moscow, Russia (RIA Novosti) Apr 28, 2010
Russia will launch a cargo module to the International Space Station (ISS) on April 28, mission control said on Tuesday. It said the Progress M-05M freighter will lift off on a Soyuz-U rocket at 21:15 Moscow time from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan and is due to dock with the ISS at 23:35 Moscow time.
