Commercial paradigm brings inventors down to earth
Geneva (AFP) April 22, 2010

India Sees Big Setback In Cryogenic Engine Tech Efforts
New Delhi, India (VOA) Apr 19, 2010
India's ambitious attempt to master a technology needed to launch heavy satellites into space has not succeeded. This could setback the country's hopes of getting a bigger share of the multibillion dollar global satellite launch market. The launch of a rocket using a domestically built cryogenic engine Thursday evening from Sriharikota in southern India was meant to demonstrate India's mas ... more

GSAT-4 Rocket Lost, But Precious Payload Safe
Bangalore (IANS) Apr 19, 2010
A fateful but providential decision by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) saved a precious Indo-Israeli science payload from crashing into the sea in the failed GSLV launch mission Thursday. Under the original plan, the ultraviolet telescope called TAUVEX was to be carried by GSAT-4, which plunged into the Bay of Bengal after the indigenously built cryogenic stage failed to fire ... more

Houston TX (SPX) Apr 19, 2010
NASA will launch the first human-like robot to space later this year to become a permanent resident of the International Space Station. The 300-pound R2 consists of a head and a torso with two arms and two hands. R2 will launch on space shuttle Discovery a ... read more
