Putin Considers Holiday Get Away In Space

And your training starts here.

Moscow (AFP) Apr 13, 2006
Russian President Vladimir Putin got an idea for really getting away from it all Wednesday -- in space. The invitation to swap his suit and tie for a spacesuit came from the Russian commander of the International Space Station (ISS), Pavel Vinogradov, in a live link-up with Putin in the Kremlin.

"We invite you to be a guest," Vinogradov said, RIA-Novosti news agency reported. "You have already been on a submarine, a strategic bomber. You know your way around an Su-27 (fighter). But you have not yet been on the space station."

Putin smiled. "Only if it's on holiday."

108 Minutes That Changed The World
Moscow, Russia (RIA) Apr 12, 2006
On April 12, 1961, all ears were turned to radios as Union Radio director Yuri Levitan, in his famous voice that became a symbol of Soviet victories, said: "the Soviet Union has orbited Earth's ever-first satellite vehicle, the Vostok, with a man onboard. The Vostok is piloted by Major Yury Alekseyevich Gagarin, a citizen of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics."
