New Delhi, India (PTI) May 07, 2008 Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday lauded Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists behind the successful launch of polar rocket that put a record ten satellites in orbit. A delegation of top space scientists led by ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair presented to Singh a model of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and satellite pictures of the national capital taken by Cartosat-2A which was launched on Monday last. "Sir, we are here," a space scientist told Singh pointing out the Prime Minister's residence in the picture of the national capital taken by Cartosat-2A. "The pictures are very clear," Singh remarked upon seeing the satellite pictures. Cartosat-2A carries a state-of-the-art Panchromatic camera (PAN) that can record high clarity images covering a swathe of 9.6 km. The highly agile remote sensing satellite can be manoeuvred to facilitate imaging of any area more frequently.

Orbital Awarded Contract for Suborbital Launch Vehicle Research by US DoD
Dulles VA (SPX) May 07, 2008Orbital Sciences has announced that it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Defense for the Theoretical Studies and Engineering Services (TSER) program. Orbital will serve as a prime contractor to support U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force research and development programs managed by White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) in New Mexico. |
