GSLV Failure A Temporary Setback Says Chavan

Ahmedabad, India (PTI) Aug 5, 2006
Terming the recent failure of the launch of GSLV as a "temporary setback", Minister of State in PMO Prithviraj Chavan today expressed confidence that ISRO, with its excellent track record, would soon come out of the mishap and scale further heights.

"I am sure with enhanced motivation, the professionals in ISRO will scale further heights", Chavan said. He was speaking at the Space Application Centre of ISRO after giving away the annual awards instituted by the Astronautical Society of India (ASI).

Chavan suggested that a compendium of facilities related to research, development and testing in the area of astronautics in India be brought out by ASI for fruitful dissemination among the Indian astronautics fraternity.

Prof R Narasimha, an expert on aeronautics and astronautics, received the Aryabhata Award for 2006. The minister also inaugurated at SAC, a seminar on "Indian Summer Monsoon Prediction: issues and Challenges".

Committee Set Up To Look Into GSLV Crash
New Delhi (PTI) Aug 04, 2006
A failure analysis committee has been set up to ascertain reasons for GSLV crash last month, Rajya Sabha was informed today. The committee which has been set up with experts from ISRO, academia and national research laboratory to ascertain the reasons for failure of GSLV-F02 is expected to submit its findings within a month, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Prithviraj Chavan said in a written reply.
